The Challenge:

Izzy Abbass and Colorado Military, Veterans, & Families are back with Operation Holiday Heroes 2014! This great program was started by Dana Niemela, VFW Post 1 Homeless Veteran Coordinator, and supported in part by VFW Post 1, the nation's FIRST VFW. This is a great way to show love and appreciation to the men, women, and families who have served our country. Through their Adopt-a-Family program, your donations will help a family who would otherwise go without this holiday season! Contributions will allow VFW volunteers to deliver gifts and cheer on your behalf. Make a Veteran family’s Holiday wishes come true!

Our goal is to raise $3,000 will provide:

  • Christmas to 25 (5 more families this year!) Veteran Families, including a box of food for their holiday mean, small cards to purchase household items.
  • Post 1 will also be feeding them a dinner on the 17th and hams and turkeys have already been donated.
  • Gifts and Food boxes are provided for the entire family.  Quite often kids will get toys for the holidays, but their parents don't usually shop for themselves. They also often need household items – toiletries, cleaning supplies, etc.

"Military men and women aren't the only ones who serve. Their families serve too. Never is that shared sacrifice more evident than during the holidays. Please pitch in to help us make another holiday season bright." - Izzy Abbass

Izzy Abbass

There’s an Army saying from back in the ‘80s: “We do more before 9 AM than most people do all day.” I can’t speak to how much each of our honorable and inspiring veterans accomplish in a day, but Izzy Abbass has been doing more before 9 for his entire life.

Colorado Military, Veterans, & Families

Military service is a serious matter. Months and years of dedication, risk and sacrifice mean that a soldier, sailor, airman, or marine return home to a changed world. “Colorado Military, Veterans, & Families” is Izzy Abbass’s life focus.
