BWAP 2010

Light up some young faces for the holidays!

Celebrating the holidays by purchasing gifts for children and youth in foster care.

Update: BWAP 2010 was a complete success! Thank you to everyone who helped us reach our goal. Please know that any additional donations will go to help more kids and to expand Brunch with a Purpose

I am hosting a fundraising brunch where an extended network of family, friends, and businesses support Santa gifts for children in need. During the past two years, Brunch With A Purpose (BWAP) has provided gifts for my clients in need. This year we are sponsoring all the children in a local drug court. The Brunch works by having people bring gifts for the children rather than getting gifts for anyone else who comes to the brunch. Check out the wish list for each kid at the Brunch With A Purpose website.

How The Children Are Chosen:

Most of the children sponsored by Brunch With A Purpose 2008 and 2009 were my clients or children who lived in the same foster homes with my clients.  Occasionally we sponsor children we find out about through their therapists, doctors, etc.  This year for Brunch With A Purpose 2010, we are sponsoring all the children in a local drug court -- the most we've sponsored yet!  Please help us spread the word as we could really use your help!

I post a wish list for each child on the Brunch With A Purpose website. As members of the community purchase presents, I cross them off the list. On the day of the Brunch, guests bring unwrapped gifts addressed to each child from Santa as well as donations which I use to purchase the rest of the gifts. I then deliver presents to each foster home, making the holidays brighter for kids.

  • $100 for Brunch Supplies
  • $100 for food, though most will be donated
  • $75 for gift-wrapping supplies
  • $75 for gifts for main sponsors
  • $50 for alcohol
  • All other money will go to gifts for the children (and possibly some to the website fees).

Since we have sponsors for most of the food, the greatest need is presents for the kids. Check out the wish list for each kid at the Brunch With A Purpose website . Pick something you would like to give, and I’ll cross it off the list. If you don’t see something that grabs your interest (though we’re sure you will), cash donations can help to put the finishing touches on each kid’s list and to host the Brunch.
